Antennarius senegalensis (Senegalese Frogfish) is practically known only to a few ichthyologists. Long time its coloration in life was not known - now with a new photo you can see it is brownish (see below) with mottled darker areas and roundish lighter areas.

Antennarius senegalensis (Senegal Anglerfisch) ist praktisch nur Fischkundlern (Ichthyologen) bekannt. Lange Zeit war sogar seine Lebend-Färbung nicht bekannt - nun mit dem unterstehenden Foto kann man sehen, dass er eine marmorierte bräunlich gefärbte Haut, welche hellere runde Stellen aufweist.

Illicium and Esca:
Illicium (rod) same size as 2nd spine. Esca (lure, bait) small.
Additional Characteristics:
A dark Ocelli encircled by a light ring. Membrane behind the second dorsal dpine with naked protions divided by clusters of dermal spinules.
More Information:

Antennarius senegalensis (Senegalese Frogfish) belongs to the Antennarius occellatus group and is closely related to Antennarius ocellatus. Link to fishbase / Pietsch & Grobecker p.129

Might be confused with Antennarius ocellatus.

Illicium und Esca:
Illicium (Angel, Rute) so gross wie zweiter Flossenstrahl. Kleine Esca (Köder).
Weitere Merkmale:
Ein dunkles Ocelli, welches durch einen helleren Ring umrahmt ist. Membranen hinter dem zweiten Flossenstrahl mit abwechselungsweise glatten und mit winzigen Stacheln (dermal spinules) übersähten Stellen.
Zusatzinformationen:
