Illicium and Esca:
Illicium (rod) short. Esca (lure, bait) a rounded clump. Lure fits in a narrow groove alongside second dorsal spine and is probably covered by the second dorsal spine.
More Information:
This is a deep water species and as a diver you are not very likely to find one. Only a few specimens were collected from Luzon in the Philippines and the Moluccas. Single species. Link to fishbase / Pietsch & Grobecker p.183
Can be confused with:
Nudiantennarius subteres (Deepwater Frogfish) has a very distinct look.

Illicium (Angel, Rute) kurz. Esca (Köder) ein rundlicher Klumpen. Die Angelrute passt in eine Vertiefung entlang des zweiten Flossenstrahls und wird wahrscheinlich von diesem zugedeckt.
Zusatzinformationen:
Diese Art lebt im tiefen Wasser und als TaucherIn ist es sehr unwahrscheinlich, dass man sie antrifft. Die wenigen Exemplare wurden alle in Luzon (Philippinen) und in den Molukken gefangen. Einzige Art. Link to fishbase / Pietsch & Grobecker S. 183
Wird verwechselt mit:
Nudiantennarius subteres (Tiefwasser-Anglerfisch) hat ein unverwechserliches Aussehen.
