The Giant frogfish belongs to the Pictus group, which contains several species of frogfisehs that look very similar and are confused easily. Other than Antennarius commerson and Antennarius pictus, Antennarius maculatus there are also 2 species from the Atlantic in this group - Antennarius pardalis and Antennarius multiocellatus.

Der Riesen-Angler gehört zur Pictus-Gruppe, welche ähnlich aussehende Anglerfische umfasst und deshalb leicht mit einander verwechselt werden. Neben den bekannten Antennarius commerson und Antennarius pictus, Antennarius maculatus gehören in die Gruppe auch die im Atlantik vorkommenden Antennarius pardalis und Antennarius multiocellatus.

Habitat: Coral reefs, lagoons and seaward reefs down to 30m depth
Range: Red Sea, Indo-Pacific to Society Islands

I identified all frogfishes (anglerfishes) to my best knowledge. Frogfishes are specially difficult to identify (see tips for identification) so mistakes are possible of course! Please write to me, if you have any questions. Latin names according to the ITIS Standard Report and Fishbase.
