For me this is a special photo. I (Zubi) was just doing my divemaster course with Sea Explorers when I had the privilege to dive with Shaun and Beth Tierney as an exercise in guiding. I found this small frogfish (max. 2cm) on a sunken tree log and Shaun took this photo.

We are kindred souls, they also love the cryptic animals like seahorses, frogfish or the mimic octopus (which you all find in Dauin). Beth has an excellent eye for hidden animals and Shaun captures them on film. A good team! Click here for more photos by Shaun (painted frogfish / clown frogfish).

Identification: I know Dauin quite well (around 40 dives there) and there are basically four different types of frogfish there: clown frogfish, striped frogfish, spotfin frogfish and the painted frogfish. I believe this is a juvenile painted frogfish.

Dises Foto ist für mich sehr speziell. Als ich meine Divemaster-Ausbildung machte führte ich das Ehepaar Shaun und Beth Tierney zu meinem LIebelings-Tauchplatz in Dauin und fand dabei diesen Anglerfisch. Shaun machte natürlich ein Foto.

Wir kamen sofort gut miteinander aus, denn die zwei lieben auch kleine versteckte Tiere wie Seepferdchen, Anglerfische oder den Mimic Oktopus (welchen wir auch in Dauin fanden). Beth hat ein gutes Auge und findet immer wieder solch kleine Viecher.

Identifikation: Ich kenne Dauin recht gut (um die 40 Tauchgänge nur dort) und man findet hier vier verschiedene Anglerfisch-Arten ( Warzen, Gestreifter, Rückenfleck und den Rundflecken-Anglerfisch). Ich denke, das ist ein kleiner A. pictus.
