The dive site is called Mid Reef and is a shallow sunken reef between two islands in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park just off Kota Kinabalu, the whole area is generally quite sheltered and doesn't experience particularly strong currents unless you are on the North West of the islands directly exposed to the South China Sea.

One thing I did notice was the frogfish appeared particularly lifeless and as a result very difficult to spot in fact I was diving with two other professionals at the time and both struggled to make out what it was at first even when I pointed it out, I have a lot of experience guiding and finding Frogfish but this guy tricky his eye looked dead and he moved much less than any other that I have encountered (at one point I thought he was dead) this combined with the small size I guess would be why they are not found very often.

Dieser Tauchplatz heisst Mid Reef und ist ein seichtes Riff zwischen zwei Inseln, die zum Tunku Abdul Rahman Park gehörend (in der Nähe von Kota Kinabalu). Diese Gegend ist recht geschützt und es herrschen keine starken Strömungen, ausser man taucht auf der norwestlichen Seite der Insel.

Ich bemerkte, dass der Anglerfisch fast lebslos da sass und deshalb auch ausserordentlich schwierig zu erkennen war. Obwohl ich mit zwei andern Berufs-Tauchern unterwegs war, fiel es ihnen schwer, den Anglerfisch auszumachen. Ich habe zwar viel Erfahrungen, Anglerfische zu finden, aber dieser sah besonders gut getarnt aus. Einen Moment lang dachte ich sogar, er sei tod. Er ist ausserdem noch recht klein, wohl mit ein Grund, dass diese Art so wenig gefunden wird.
