Antennarius biocellatus (Brackish-Water or Twinspot Frogfish) lives in brackish water, a habitat seldom visited by divers. This is probably the reason it is not very well known.

Antennarius biocellatus ("Brackwasser" Anglerfisch) lebt im Brackwasser, einem Lebensraum, der eher selten von Tauchern besucht wird. Aus diesem Grund ist er auch eher unbekannt.

Interesting the red area around the lure that probably also attracts the attention of possible prey.

Antennarius biocellatus - Brackish-Water frogfish (Twinspot Frogfish)

Illicium and Esca:
Illicium (rod) shorter than 2nd spine. Esca (lure, bait) small.
Additional Characteristics:
Second spine not connected with membrane to the head. Black basidorsal ocellus surrounded by a narrow pale yellow, black-edged ring. High back and flatish body profile. Dark streaks from eye.
More Information:
Antennarius biocellatus (Brackish-Water or Twinspot Frogfish) belongs to the Antennarius biocellatus group which consists of this single species. Link to fishbase / Pietsch & Grobecker p.174
Can be confused with:
I think it can be confused with the Lembeh frogfish

Illicium und Esca:
Illicium (Angel, Rute) etwas kürzer als 2. Stachelstrahl. Esca (Köder) klein.
Weitere Merkmale:
Zweiter Flossenstrahl nicht mit Membrane mit Kopf verbunden. Ein dunkler Augenfleck mit einem schmalen hellgelben und einem zweiten dunklen Ring. Dunkle Streifen vom Auge aus.

Southwest Japan (book), Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands (= Southeast Asia). Rarely found, cryptic.

Südwest Japan (Buch), Taiwan, Philippinen, Indonesien, Papua-Neuguinea, Solomonen (= Südost-Asien). Wird selten gefunden, lebt versteckt.
