Antennarius randalli (Randall's
Anglerfisch) ist zwar einer der kleinsten Anglerfische und dazu
noch so dünn wie ein Papier, aber er wird trotzdem hie und
da von Tauchern gefunden. Dieser Anglerfisch ist in folgenden mir bekannten Tauchgebieten zu finden: Negros in den Philippinen, Mabul in Borneo, Komodo in Indonesien. |

This Baby Randall's frogfish has a split lure
but no white spots (yet?). The similarity with a piece of algae
is striking!

| Illicium
and Esca:
Short illicium (rod) with slender filaments. Esca (lure, bait) split with slender filaments. Additional Characteristics: This species can mostly be identified by the white spots: two on caudal fin, one near upper edge of fin, one directly below lower edge, one behind eye, one above pectoral fin. Dorsal spot. 2nd and 3d spine connected by membrane (forming a small aperture to protect esca). The body is rather flat. Looks like a Halimeda algae or a withered leaf. | Rocky or coral patch reefs, mostly shallow water. This frogfish is very small and because it is mostly brown to yellow it can nearly not be told apart from the rubble or coral pieces it hides among. |

Fels- und Korallenriffe, eher seichtes Wasser. Dieser Anglerfisch ist sehr klein und da er braun bis gelb ist auch fast nicht vom Geröll oder Korallenschutt zu unterscheiden, zwischen dem er sich versteckt. |
