Allenichthys glauerti (Glauert's Frogfish) is a frogfish species known only to a few ichthyologists and living in the colder waters of western and southern Australia.

Characteristics - Allenichthys glauerti - Merkmale

Illicium and Esca:
Illicium (rod) more than twice as long as 2nd spine. Esca (lure, bait) longish and covered with short fine hair-like filaments.
Additional Characteristics:
Reduced second dorsal spine, recurved and constricted at tip, no membrane. No caudal peduncle (dorsal and anal fins end at base of tail fin).
More Information:
Allenichthys glauerti (Glauert's Frogfish) has a swim bladder (like Histrio histrio). Only a single species belongs to this genera. Link to fishbase / Pietsch & Grobecker p. 218
Can be confused with:
In the area it lives (subtropical Australia) there is no similar looking frogfish.

Illicium und Esca:
Illicium (Angel, Rute) mehr als zweimal so lange wie zweiter Flossenstrahl. Esca (Köder) länglich und mit feinen kurzen haarigen Filamenten bedeckt.
Weitere Merkmale:
Reduzierter zweiter Stachelstrahl, welcher etwas nach hinten gebeugt ist und einen Spitz bildet, keine Membrane. Kurzer Schwanzstiel (d.h. die Rücken- und Analflossen enden an der Basis der Schwanzflosse)
Zusatzinformationen:

Wird verwechselt mit:
Im Verbreitungsgebiet (subtropisches Australien) gibt es keine ähnlich aussehenden Anglerfische.

Marine, some specimens were caught at more than 150m depth.

Marin, einige Exemplare wurden auf mehr als 150m Tiefe gefangen.

Range - Allenichthys glauerti - Verbreitung

Endemic to southern Australia, from Beagle Islands, Western Australia to Kangaroo Islands. Restricted to this area

West- und Süd-Australien (Beagle Insel, Kangaroo Insel). Nur in diesem Gebiet zu finden.
